The Günter-Thiele-Foundation for Communication and Management announces with deep sorrow that its founder, Dr. h.c. Günter F. Thiele, has passed away at the age of 90. His visionary work has significantly shaped modern communication consulting.
Through his generous support, research and education in corporate communication at the University of Leipzig have gained national and international recognition. In May 2002, Günter Thiele received an honorary doctorate from the University of Leipzig, honoring his contributions to the development of public relations in both academia and practice. Projects such as the Günter-Thiele-Prize, the Günter-Thiele-Research Fellowship, and various initiatives like the Academic Society for Corporate Management & Communication, the Center for Research in Financial Communication, and the Center for History & Corporate Communication are testaments to his lasting impact.
The Günter-Thiele-Foundation for Communication and Management announces that Prof. Dr. Bernd Schuppener (71) is stepping down as Chairman of the Board after many years of leading the Board.
Prof. Dr. Christof E. Ehrhart (57) will become the Foundation’s new Chairman of the Board.

The winner of the Günter-Thiele-Prize 2024 is Lina Blenninger and Caroline Siegel has been awarded the Günter Thiele Research Fellowship 2024. The award ceremony took place on April 12, 2024, as part of the “REFRESH” event organized by the Communication Management department at Leipzig University.
Dr. h.c. Günter F. Thiele celebrates his 90th birthday.
The Günter-Thiele-Foundation for Communication and Management congratulates Dr. h.c. Günter F. Thiele, patron, and mentor of PR research at the University of Leipzig, on his 90th birthday today. Günter Thiele, who lives in Düsseldorf, has played a key role in shaping modern PR consulting in Germany. In May 2002, the University of Leipzig awarded him the title of Dr. h.c. for his services to the development of public relations and PR science in Germany. He is also Honorary President of the Gesellschaft Public Relations Agenturen e.V. (GPRA).
The winner of the 2023 Günter Thiele Prize is Katja Fischer and Daniel Ziegele will be awarded the 2023 Günter Thiele Research Fellowship. The award ceremony took place on April 21, 2023 as part of the “REFRESH” event organized by the Communication Management department at Leipzig University.
The winner of the 2022 Günter Thiele Prize is Julia Kloß. Jeanne Link was awarded the Günter Thiele Research Fellowship 2022, which was announced for the first time. The award ceremony took place on April 22 as part of the “REFRESH” event organized by the Communication Management department at
the University of Leipzig.
