Short Bio

Prof. Dr. Ansgar Zerfass is Professor and Chair of Strategic Communication at the Institute for Communication and Media Studies at Leipzig University, Germany. He also teaches executive courses at several business schools across Europe. He holds a doctorate in business administration and habilitation (postdoctoral qualification) in communication studies, and spent ten years working in the corporate sector.

His research focuses on corporate communications, value creation through communication, and international communication. He has published over 45 books and more than 450 articles on these topics and is one of the most cited researchers in the field worldwide. Graduates from Leipzig supervised by him have received multiple awards for the best master’s theses and dissertations at the national, European, and global levels.

Ansgar Zerfass is a co-founder of the Günter Thiele Foundation and incorporated the Academic Society for Management & Communication – which he initiated in 2010 – into the foundation, where it continues as an initiative. He has served as Chairman of the Executive Board of the Academic Society since 2023.
